Thanks Chris, I do agree - it is the quality of the dialogue that makes interesting. The slow digesting rate allows for real interesting ideas to grow. And I do expect all kinds of results in the unforeseeable future of that post, still.

I guess I failed at demonstrating failure ; )

Maybe I'll have to turn this into a series, train myself into sharing more embarassing failures!

I don't think it is right that you classify that blog post as a failure. Sure, the results didn't meet your expectations - but I suspect blogging is much like many other things in life: it's "drip, drip, drip". Each post gets you a little further. In many ways. But usually only little steps. And there's so much emphasis put on how many readers, subscribers, friends or followers you have. I've decided for myself that it's not that number that counts. It's the quality of the interactions.

Great comment Chris, and I agree - the dialogue is what makes blogging so inspiring. Thanks for pointing that out.

In my mind, Rustle would print a blogs' comments, too. Then, you could prep a longer reaction online with, say, a pencil - on the paper? (no irony intended) I agree, it's a slow (week by week) feedback loop, but then, does quality come at a defined speed? I really like writing both on paper and on keys myself, but find they may render different kind of content.

Euhm, more thinking - how about texting (shorter) comments? mixing no-tech (paper) with low-tech? For those poor fools among us (yours truly inc) without iPhone, Blackberry and the like?

shoot some more, I'm armed&ready! : )

(while Flo is happy vandalizing the other keyboard)

I'm at the computer waaay too much and was actually thinking about somehow moving my blog reading from my work computer to another one that is not on my desk. But on paper? My first thought was: wow, that's a great idea. But then I thought: where's the interaction? How do you comment? While reading is quite important, I think the discussion is at least as important, if not more. How would that be possible on paper?
